This privacy policy applies to Your Daily Bible Verse of the Day, a daily Bible verse application for iOS offered by Blackforest LLC (“Blackforest”), and to personal information and data handled through it (collectively the “Services”). Blackforest is committed to protecting the privacy of users of the Services. Blackforest does not gather information about the users of the Services, and wants users to fully understand how the Services work. The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for the Services. Blackforest is subject to the regulatory and enforcement authority of the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
1. Information Blackforest collects.
Users can utilize the Services and all associated features without identifying themselves or volunteering personal information. A user does not need to register with Blackforest, and the Services have no account and no login. Blackforest does not request or collect personal information, including, but not limited to, contact information, such as the user’s name, mailing address, telephone number, e-mail address, credit/debit card information, transactional payment information, and demographic information such as age, and gender. Blackforest does not collect any information about a user’s religious beliefs or about which verses a user reads.
Any settings a user chooses in the Services, such as a reminder time, are stored on the user’s device only, and not on any Blackforest server.
If a user contacts Blackforest by e-mail for support, Blackforest receives the user’s e-mail address and the contents of the message. Blackforest does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or from anyone else, through the Services.
2. Purposes of Data Collection
Blackforest does not gather, collect, store, organize, or retrieve information and data about users of the Services, either collectively or individually. For example, we do not gather what areas of the Services users visit most frequently, what features users access most often, or trends or patterns. Blackforest does not log IP addresses, session sources, or other data which tracks users’ access to the Services, because Blackforest operates no server for the Services. The Services contain no analytics, no crash reporter, no advertising, and no third-party software development kits (SDKs) at all. Blackforest gathers personal information about a user individually only when that user e-mails us, and uses it only for provision of customer service and support.
3. What Blackforest does with the information it collects.
Because Blackforest does not collect personal information through the Services, it does not use aggregated personal information to determine the demographic composition of our user base, and does not distribute statistics about users. Blackforest does not disclose user statistics to prospective partners, advertisers, purchasers, or other third parties.
The only unaffiliated third party involved in the Services is Apple Inc. (“Apple”), which distributes the Services through the App Store. The Services do not connect to any other company. Any purchase in the Services is made through Apple. No payment details reach the Services or Blackforest, and the Services store only a local record of whether a purchase is active. Any reminder notifications are scheduled on the user’s device, only if the user opts in. Blackforest sends no marketing push notifications, and no push token reaches Blackforest.
Also, please be aware that Apple may collect personally identifiable information about users. If a user has chosen in their device settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide Blackforest with aggregated crash and usage statistics that do not identify specific users. The information practices of Apple are not covered by this privacy policy and Blackforest is not responsible for the privacy practices of Apple.
Blackforest does not utilize other companies to process information from the Services on its behalf, other than the e-mail provider that delivers support e-mail.
The personal information a user supplies to Blackforest by e-mail may be disclosed to third parties under special circumstances, such as when we believe in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to (i) comply with legal process, (ii) enforce any terms of use of the Services, or (iii) protect the rights, property, or personal safety of Blackforest, its users, or the public. Please know that Blackforest may be required to release an individual’s personal information in response to a lawful request by public authorities. Blackforest does not transfer any user’s personal information or data to third parties for commercial purposes, including for sales and marketing.
4. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small data file that certain websites write to your hard drive when you visit them. A cookie file can contain information that allows a website to track the pages you’ve visited. Blackforest does not use cookies in the Services to tell when a user is a repeat visitor, to identify users, or to track what users do. The Services do not track users across apps or websites owned by other companies.
5. User Options — Opt-Out
Users of the Services should contact us at the address below with any questions about the information practices of the Services. Blackforest sends no direct marketing or promotional electronic mailings, telephone solicitations, or marketing push notifications to users of the Services, so there is nothing of that kind to opt out of. Reminder notifications are off until the user turns them on, and users may opt out at any time in the Services or in their device settings. Deleting the app from the device removes everything the Services have stored.
6. User Access to Information
Blackforest acknowledges the individual’s right to access their personal data. Any settings stored by the Services are on the user’s own device, where the user may change them at any time and as often as necessary. Because Blackforest holds no information about users of the Services, it has nothing to access, change, or delete on a user’s behalf. To access or delete support e-mail correspondence held by Blackforest, please email us at support@blackforestcompany.com.
7. Security
No user information from the Services is stored on Blackforest servers. Any settings are stored on the user’s device, protected by the security of that device and of iOS. We also have appropriate managerial procedures in place to safeguard the support e-mail we receive.
8. European Union Data Protection for Residents of the EU
Blackforest does not collect, use, or retain personal information from European Union member countries through the Services, and does not transfer any such information to the United States. Residents of the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection over their personal data. For support e-mail correspondence, users may exercise these rights by contacting us at support@blackforestcompany.com.
Blackforest likewise does not sell or share the personal information of California residents, and will not discriminate against any user for exercising a privacy right.
9. Complaints and Dispute Resolution for Residents of the EU
Blackforest commits to resolve complaints about your privacy and our collection or use of your personal information. European Union individuals with inquiries or complaints regarding this privacy policy should contact us at support@blackforestcompany.com.
If you do not receive timely acknowledgment of your complaint, or if your complaint is not satisfactorily addressed, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority in your country of residence.
10. User Consent
By using the Services, users signify their assent to this privacy policy and to the practices described herein. If a user does not agree to this policy, he or she should not use the Services.
11. Changes to Privacy Policy
If Blackforest changes this privacy policy, we will post those changes at this location so that users will always know what information we gather, how we might use that information, and whether we will disclose it to anyone. Continued use of the Services by a user following the posting of changes to this privacy policy will likewise mean the user accepts those changes.
